Anyone have tips on polishing aluminum trailers like an Airstream? Some areas still have a clear coat and other areas are still fairly shiny. I think this is a pretty big job so I only want to do it once and do it right. Thank you.

sorry for the late reply.

best bet is to get a 6" dual action electric sander and go over the whole thing with 800 grit paper to remove the clearcoat. sounds like some areas still have good clear, and other areas dont. next, use a 10" yellow airway at 1900 rpm. we sell a Dewalt 849 buffer which is variable speed. you would also need our airway safety flange kit to mount the pad on the buffer. use our Tripoli compound with the yellow airway, and go over the entire thing with that step. buff in the same direction as pad rotation, do not go back and forth. only go one direction, lift, and return to where you started.

next step is to use a 10" medium white airway with white compound bar, still at 1900 rpm. this will bring up the high luster, removing scratches left from the Tripoli step.

if you have any questions, feel free to give us a call at 800-213-2067.
