Sanding fuel tanks

Post  pete 65 on Tue Jul 26, 2011 7:02 pm

I was wondering what kind of sander and what technique do you recomend for sanding fuel tanks? Where should I start? What direction to move?

I have seen them demo their products at the Louisville truck show.

They use a DeWalt 6" random orbit sander with Psa ( pressure sensitive adhesive) backed sanding discs. I personally use the Home Depot branded Rigid 6" random orbit strictly because of the lifetime warranty. Aluminum particles will eat up the motor, etc. With the Rigid brand... Just make sure you register the warranty, if you do that, it's as simple as walking in and getting a new one.
